An Awkward Big Girl Moment

It was rush hour on the subway and the train was packed. I slipped into a space and grabbed hold of the nearest pole making sure I didn’t kick the feet of the people in front of me, who were lucky enough to have snagged a seat.

After a few stops, a woman sitting in front of me waved her hand to get my attention. I took one earphone out of my ear so I could hear what she was saying.

“Would you like to sit down?” she asked, looking concerned.

“Oh– I’m fine… thanks though”

“You sure?”

“Yes,” I said, wondering why she was so worried.

“Okay,” she said slowly.

I caught a glimpse of myself in the train windows… one hand holding onto the pole, the other resting on my stomach. I looked back at the woman who offered me her seat, catching her as she glanced down at my tummy before going back to her book.

She thought I was pregnant….

*sigh*

Unfortunately I have had the same thing happen….except this lady came up and rubbed my belly and asked me how far along I was. I smiled and said I am not pregnant. I didn’t laugh but I wanted to. That will teach her!!!

I am a fellow Black BBW.

Hey, I think that happened to me once. I had on a cool retro coat that needs to be tailored to fit me better. A woman on the train offered me a seat and I gladly said thanks. I expected her to get off the train at the next stop, but she didn’t. Later she found a seat and sat down. Then it hit me. I think she thinks I’m pregnant. Urrrghhh.
But at least I had a seat!!!

or how about …when there is a seat BUT it doesnt look like there is ROOM ENOUGH …so I bypass it :(
Everyday I try and judge if my butt will be ok in a train seat…its upsetting when there is clearly a seat, but EYE cant have it.

One thing that i guess i shouldnt really care about, but have to admit it annoys me anyway, is when theres a perfectly good seat next to u on a bus or train and w/a quick glance smaller people bypass it or stand like there gonna catch a virus or something….really bugs me..

Well at least you know that there are some decent people that would offer a seat to a pregnant lady. I have been on the train, where a man didn’t give his seat, and I had to. Don’t worry just keep up the good work, and you will get there.
There are some people with phobia of fat people. I know, because my family members try to stay clear. I tell them to move to an island, because it is going to be difficult to get away.
